Friendships are like flowers, you have to nurture them to help them grow. This week, to celebrate National Learning Disability Week, Haven Ward worked with our Recovery College to launch their enterprise, “Sunflower Sensations: Flowers and Plants to Make People Smile”.
We have re-potted sunflowers that the patients have grown from seed. They will soon be sold to staff, and the patients will decide how to reinvest their profits. We have a number of projects like this going on around Cheswold Park, with patients exploring new and exciting ways to make money to invest in their projects. Schemes like this are invaluable to a lot of our patients as it creates a real sense of ownership and pride, and allows patients to put their skills and talents to good use.
